THE PRECAUTIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR A MORE ACCURATE WEIGHING

Do you already know the precautions you should have for a more accurate weighing? Find them out with Balanças Marques!

There are several precautions that you should have to keep a well-maintained scale and ensure its durability. But also, several precautions that you can’t forget in order to make more accurate weighing, on your busy day to day.

At Balanças Marques, we have collected some tips to help you ensure more reliability at the time of weighing the items sold on your grocery store, butcher, fish shop or fruit shop:

1. Keep the scale’s plate clean.
Scales are sensitive objects. Any particle on the weighing plate can interfere with the result. So, to maintain the reliability (and, of course, the hygiene) of your equipment, you should clean it regularly.
Use a moist cloth, making sure that is not too wet, and bet on a neutral soap, instead of more abrasive cleaning products. If there’s waste from any sample on the scale’s plate, use a soft brush to remove them.

2. Check the scales leveling.
Did you know that your scale stability is essential for the weighing precision? And their daily use can make the leveling oscillate. So, to have more reliable results, verify if the equipment it’s well leveled.
For that, check out the level bubble (physic or digital) and, if necessary, adjust your scale until you see that the bubble is well centered.

3. Make sure that you only weigh a new item when the scale is on zero.
The daily life of a retail business can be fast paced, but you must ensure that your equipment have time to fulfil each task. With scales in particular, you should make sure that you only weigh a new item when the display indicates zero.
This way, you’re making sure that the equipment is ready to weigh again and you get a more accurate result.

4. Respect the guidelines indicated by your scales’ manufacturer.
Although robust, scales have also some components that need special precautions due to having a central role on the weighing accuracy. For that, to preserve the integrity of the load cell and other elements of the scale, you should use your weighing instrument with attention.
Avoid overloading the scale, don’t drop objects on the equipment and, above all, always read and respect the guidelines indicated by the manufacturer to ensure the most reliable results.

Start adopting these precautions on the daily life of your grocery store, butcher, fish shop or fruit shop and ensure a more accurate weighing in your retail business. If you need to clarify any questions, please contact us.
