Balanças Marques’ employees like their summer vacations very much. However, that doesn’t stop them from missing the company during the two weeks in which they are absent. After all, it was not by chance that, in 2018, the business group to which it belongs - Grupo José Pimenta Marques - made it into Exame’s list of the 100 best companies to work at in Portugal.
Among the several benefits offered to the staff, there are actions like allowing a day off on birthdays, distributing profits and gifting a 500 euros bank check for the birth of an employee’s child. And advantages don’t stop here. The company’s human resources policy includes diverse initiatives that are intended to create well-being on a daily basis, whether on work or off it.

They have fruit and water available at all times.
Every single day, Grupo José Pimenta Marques provides its employees with water and diversified fruit on several workspaces, in order to promote health and boost energy levels. Fuelled by these snacks, the breaks from work become way easier and healthier, as Bárbara Freitas, company’s employee, highlights. “I no longer have to worry about preparing healthy snacks on the day before, Grupo JPM offers us fruit every day”, she explains.

They get to attend functional training classes every week. 
Once a week, a personal trainer comes to Balanças Marques’ to offer its staff a functional training class. The point of the company is to encourage their employees to pursue a healthy lifestyle and give them some important moments of relaxation and amusement on the workplace itself. Employees have the chance to workout totally for free and are offered the opportunity to interact with all the colleagues on the end of another day at the office and at the factory. “The functional training classes allow me to relax on the end of the day and give me strength to be better each day. We are very happy for having a family here at work”, states Paulo Oliveira, one of the frequent attendees of these classes.   

They participate in really fun events.
Throughout the year, Grupo José Pimenta Marques frequently organizes events for its staff. These are true moments of familiarity and fun that bring the employees together and guide them to build friendships and team spirit.
